Transport Planning Operative

Wythenshawe Monday –Friday

3 month contract with possible extension or permanent role

Main Purpose of the role

DSV are looking to recruit a proactive and organised Transport Planning Administrator to join our Wythenshawe operation. This role combines transport administration, planning support and operational coordination to ensure the smooth running of the afternoon and evening transport operation.

Working within a busy transport and logistics environment, the successful candidate will support the movement of freight throughout the UK network. Duties will include building and finalising trunk movements, booking deliveries and collections, processing transport documentation, customer communication and providing general operational support.

Full training will be provided to the successful candidate.

What will you be doing?
  • Build and finalise nightly trunk schedules in line with network requirements.
  • Plan and allocate freight to trunk vehicles to maximise vehicle utilisation and operational efficiency.
  • Book deliveries and collections with customers in line with service requirements.
  • Process, prepare and maintain transport documentation and operational records.
  • Support the planning of daily deliveries and collections where required.
  • Monitor service performance and communicate any delays, issues or service failures to relevant stakeholders.
  • Liaise with customers, hauliers and other DSV sites to ensure the smooth movement of freight throughout the network.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Good problem‑solving skills and the ability to make informed decisions.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
