About EBB

Elliott Baxter & Company Ltd (EBB) is an independent, family-owned distribution business with more than 100 years of experience. We support customers across the UK and Ireland through our established warehouse and logistics network, operating 10 sites combining national capability with local service and long-term relationships.

Our logistics operation is central to the service we provide, and we are looking for an experienced Branch Logistic Manager to lead our Manchester warehouse and logistics operation.

The Opportunity

This is a key operational leadership role with responsibility for the smooth, safe and efficient running of our Manchester site. The warehouse operates five days a week and is managed through a Warehouse Management System (WMS).

You will lead our shift supervisors, warehouse teams and drivers, ensuring that people, systems, stock, vehicles and processes work effectively together. The role combines visible, supportive leadership with an increasing focus on systems, data, compliance and strong operational controls.

For the right person, this is an opportunity to take real ownership of a significant branch operation, develop a team, improve processes and play an important part in delivering the dependable service our customers expect from EBB.

Key Responsibilities

People Leadership & Development

Lead the day to day performance of the branch logistics team, including shift supervisors, warehouse colleagues and drivers.

Recruit, induct, train and develop colleagues, ensuring responsibilities are delegated effectively and workloads are fairly distributed.

Identify training needs and ensure company procedures and standards are consistently followed.

Create a positive, accountable and safety-focused working environment, leading by example.

Warehouse Management & Systems

Ensure the WMS is correctly used, maintained and developed to its full potential, with the team fully trained in all relevant processes.

Maintain strong stock and system integrity across goods received, picking, replenishment, returns and inventory.

Monitor operational reports and investigate stock discrepancies, held orders, process failures and non-conformances.

Put effective corrective actions in place so that issues are resolved and not repeated.

Transport, Customer Delivery & Compliance

Plan and oversee deliveries, ensuring goods are processed correctly and loaded onto the correct vehicles.

Oversee driver processes, POD completion and service performance, investigating delivery failures where required.

Oversee site health & safety checks, PPE, accident and incident reporting, and required weekly facility checks.

Support efficient waste, recycling and general site management in line with company policies.

About You

We are looking for an experienced and confident operational leader who combines strong people management skills with a good understanding of modern warehouse and logistics operations.

Previous experience managing a warehouse, distribution or logistics operation.

Experience leading supervisors, warehouse teams and/or drivers.

Experience working within a Warehouse Management System (WMS) environment.

Strong systems capability and confidence using operational information and data to manage performance.

A good understanding of stock control, warehouse processes, health & safety and operational compliance.

The confidence to make decisions, address issues and take ownership.

A positive, fair and collaborative leadership style with the ability to work effectively across the wider EBB business.

Previous experience with paper, board, print or a similar distribution environment would be useful, but is not essential. Strong operational leadership, systems capability and the ability to develop a high-performing team are particularly important to us.

Why Join EBB?

At EBB, our people and long-term relationships are at the heart of our business. We combine the stability and heritage of an established family business with a continued focus on modernising our operations, investing in our people and creating…
