Overview

The Program Coordinator II performs a wide variety of duties to coordinate the programs and services of Easter Seals Goodwill ND, Inc. (ESGWND) as directed by the Director of Program Services. Program Coordinators oversee all aspects of the program and billing process and may work with the people supported directly when needs arise.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and participate in the planning process and the Overall Service Plans by providing information to the team about the dreams, goals, strengths and needs of the people ESGWND supports, through assessments and/or meetings.
  • Ensure that strategies set forth by families and the team to help people achieve goals are carried out; document results so progress toward goals can be tracked.
  • Assist people in managing finances, seeking financial assistance, protecting personal possessions, arranging transportation, and engaging with the community and resources.
  • May be appointed as a signer on Representative Payee accounts at ESGWND.
  • Assist people with state/federal paperwork and housing documents as needed.
  • Ensure living arrangements comply with health, safety and ESGWND standards; support people in maintaining homes.
  • Provide assistance with grooming, hygiene, personal care, and medical needs as required; support people to complete necessary medical-related tasks.
  • Provide formal and informal direction to staff to support people in achieving optimum health; monitor and document health information for medical professionals.
  • Train staff to assist with medication administration and ensure people attend and follow through with medical appointments.
  • Support nutritional needs by encouraging balanced meals and adherence to doctor/family dietary orders; direct staff in meal preparation accordingly.
  • Conduct quarterly visits and monthly contact with people served; document meetings, conversations, and important information.
Policies and Compliance
  • Learn and uphold internal policies and state regulations for service delivery; uphold HIPAA rules and maintain staff confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Participate in and apply knowledge from relevant quality standards and ESGWND/State protocols.
  • Understand ESGWND services and ensure coordination with statewide agencies for payment and continuity of care.
  • Promote and uphold ESGWND’s Mission, Vision, and Values—advancing Equality, Dignity, and Independence for individuals with disabilities or special needs.
  • Maintain familiarity with ESGWND policies and procedures and safety standards across regional work areas.
Staff Management
  • Recruit, interview, and hire Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) and ESPs as part of a team following HR and director guidance.
  • Conduct reference checks and maintain records.
  • Train, schedule, and supervise DSPs/ESPs; provide SOP training and paperwork guidance to staff.
  • Coordinate to maintain an effective department through staff training; maintain good team relations.
  • Document training and conversations with team members per HR recordkeeping guidelines.
  • Motivate team members and address performance issues; manage payroll to ensure accurate payment.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a human service field or related area; preference for psychology, social work, education or gerontology degrees.
  • One year of experience working directly with people with developmental disabilities.
  • Certification as a QDDP (Qualified Developmental Disability Professional) with MSU Developmental Disabilities program, following prescribed certification modules.
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid or Therapeutic Responses through Positive Behavior Support.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to conceptualize, develop, and implement creative plans (think outside the box).
  • Ability to solve problems independently while working in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Excellent written, oral and verbal communication skills.
  • Exercise discretion, judgment and confidentiality; maintain confidentiality and security of information and files.
  • Ensure compliance with ESGWND policies, procedures and safety standards across regional work areas.
Working conditions

Regularly sit for extended periods, walk and stand; use hands to operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; lift up to 50 pounds. Vision includes close and distant focus. Noise level is usually quiet to moderate; occasional exposure to loud sounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made for people with disabilities. Minimal travel required.
