Patient Access Representative | 32hrs/week
Sanford Health invites applicants for the Patient Access Representative position at our East Mandan Clinic. The role is full‑time, 32 hours per week, scheduled Monday‑Friday 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, with no weekend or holiday work.

Salary Range: $16.25 – $23.00 per hour
As the first point of contact, you will provide outstanding customer service to patients through phone and in‑clinic interactions, ensuring a welcoming and safe environment. Your primary responsibilities include phone coverage, patient check‑ins, and appointment rescheduling.
ResponsibilitiesREGISTRATION
- Greet patients and verify demographics
- Scan, route, and process documents or electronic forms
- Inform patients about documents and capture signatures
- Assign financial responsibility and assist with arrangements per policy
- Collect co‑payments, pre‑payments, and payments on account balances
- Work through registration queue to resolve errors or denied insurance claims
SCHEDULING
- Coordinate appointments with nursing team and providers to meet patient needs
- Obtain referrals and conduct pre‑authorizations
- Arrange interpreter services
- Check patients in and out
- Operate multi‑line phone system
- Resolve queue issues, manage recalls and waitlists, and act as switchboard operator
Additional Duties May Include
- Prepare and coordinate charts
- Organize supporting provider documents
- Initiate and collaborate on patient financial assistance
- Track patient visits and health information on accounts
- Compile, distribute, administer, and score assessments
- Coordinate Telemed appointments
- Make reminder calls for appointments
- Handle hospital admissions
- Perform office duties such as copying or faxing
High school diploma or equivalent preferred; post‑secondary education is helpful.
One year of experience, preferably in a medical office setting. Medical terminology knowledge is helpful; customer service skills are essential. Six months of customer service experience desired.
May require BLS certification for certain locations.
