This job provides individualized medical care of assigned patients in person, electronically and via telephone under the supervision of a licensed health care provider. It assists in the delivery of health care services to patients of varied backgrounds and ages, maintains positive relationships with patients and their families, and works effectively with fellow employees to ensure the efficient flow of patients throughout their visit.

The role includes communicating via phone to meet patient needs promptly, accessing company data systems to document pertinent medical information, and performing each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Completion of a formal medical assistant training program (preferred)
Work Experience
  • Experience working with and maintaining confidential information
  • Experience in a fast‑paced environment with minimal supervision
Certifications
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (required)

  • Clinical knowledge
  • Proficiency in using computers, software, and web‑based applications
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process

Job Duties
  • Supports the patient and provider throughout the patient visit
  • Ensures the patient and provider are prepared for the visit
  • Ensures the patient’s questions are answered prior to leaving and prepares the room for the next appointment
  • Provides excellent patient service through effective communication both over the phone and in person
  • Completes appropriate documentation, including patient registration when necessary
  • Maintains required clinical knowledge, technical skills, training and credentials through personal professional development
  • Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, respecting privacy and tailoring communication style and explanations of services or procedures
  • Performs other related duties as required
  • Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility, ensuring compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards
  • Reports any known or suspected unethical or questionable behaviors or conduct; patient/employee safety, patient privacy, or other compliance‑related concerns
Physical and Environmental Demands

Medium Work – Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Work may include walking or standing to a significant degree, pushing or pulling arm or leg controls, or operating at a production rate pace that requires constant pushing or pulling of materials.

The role also requires routine exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue, with occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous medications or waste. All tasks should be performed with mechanical lifting devices or team lifts when possible.
