Job Title: Dietary Team Lead
Status: Full Time, Non-exempt
Schedule: Rotating Shifts 5:30 AM- 6:00 pm, Off every other weekend
Position SummaryThe Dietary Team Lead supports daily kitchen and meal service operations by overseeing cooks and dietary aides and assisting as needed to ensure timely, safe, and high-quality meal service throughout the facility. This role coordinates meal preparation and delivery according to posted schedules and diet orders, maintains sanitation and food safety standards, and supports inventory control, cleaning, and organization of kitchen and dining areas.
The Dietary Team Lead works closely with the Dietary Manager and Director of Dietary to ensure all dietary functions are completed daily while promoting teamwork and compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
- Lead and support cooks and dietary aides to ensure daily tasks and meal services are completed efficiently
- Coordinate meal preparation, serving, and delivery according to schedules and diet orders
- Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and infection control standards
- Maintain accurate logs, temperature checks, and sanitation documentation
- Assist with cleaning, organization, inventory control, and waste reduction
- Communicate meal updates and special diet information to nursing units and dietary staff
- Support employee scheduling and workflow as needed
- Promote teamwork and assist staff to maintain smooth food production and service
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Minimum of one (1) year of cooking or related food service experience
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and healthcare regulatory guidelines (HACCP, HIPAA, DNV)
- Ability to operate commercial kitchen equipment
- CPI and CPR certification may be required within 120 days of hire
Physical Requirements
This position requires standing, walking, lifting, and operating kitchen equipment throughout the shift. The role involves exposure to heat, noise, cleaning chemicals, and food service environments. Medium-duty work, including lifting and moving kitchen supplies and equipment, is required.
