About the Role

We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Cook Helper to assist kitchen staff with food preparation, serving, and general kitchen maintenance. The Cook Helper plays a key role in ensuring that meal service runs smoothly, food is prepared safely, and kitchen areas remain clean and organized. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys teamwork and has a passion for supporting food service operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist cooks and kitchen staff in preparing ingredients such as washing, chopping, and portioning food items.
  • Help with basic cooking tasks under supervision, such as mixing ingredients or heating prepared foods.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in food preparation and storage areas.
  • Wash dishes, utensils, pots, and pans; ensure proper sanitation of kitchen equipment.
  • Stock supplies and ingredients as needed for meal service.
  • Assist in serving meals and replenishing food on service lines.
  • Dispose of waste properly and follow food safety and hygiene standards.
  • Support kitchen operations as directed by the Cook or Kitchen Supervisor.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Prior experience in food service, hospitality, or kitchen work helpful but not required.
  • Knowledge of basic food handling and safety practices.
  • Ability to follow directions and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for long periods.
  • Dependable, punctual, and a positive team player.
Preferred Skills
  • Food Handler’s Certificate or Serv Safe certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Familiarity with large-scale meal preparation or institutional food service.
  • Good communication and time management skills.
