Staff Engineer RF Microwave Design (MMIC) - R

At Northrop Grumman, we invite you to apply for the Staff Engineer RF Microwave Design (MMIC) position. This role supports our Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuit (MMIC) product development for commercial markets.

The position focuses on designing and developing innovative RF products using III‑V technologies and key design tools such as Keysight ADS, Momentum, and HFSS.

Responsibilities
  • Technical lead for MMIC product development.
  • Design MMICs using linear and nonlinear models and 2.5D/3D electromagnetic simulators.
  • Develop reference designs for PA, LNA, Mixer, Multiplier, and Switch.
  • Execute verification test analysis and present results to external customers.
  • Provide technical input for product datasheets.
  • Support product through critical lifecycle stages including concept/feasibility, development, qualification, and production.
  • Solve dynamic technical problems with minimal oversight.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in a STEM discipline and 12 years of related experience;
    Master of Science and 10 years; or PhD and 8 years.
  • MMIC or circuit design experience.
  • Keysight ADS or Cadence AWR experience.
  • US citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Independent product design and verification through prototype fabrication and testing.
  • Design and simulation experience with successful tape‑outs.
  • Microwave engineering background; knowledge of s‑parameters and impedance matching.
  • 2D and 3D EM modeling experience with ANSYS, Momentum, and Sonnet.
  • Debugging and validating simulations.
  • HEMT device modelling understanding.
  • Calibration techniques understanding.
  • Experience with SKILL or Python.
  • Broadband component design.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
