We have an opening for either a Principal Software Engineer (T03) or Senior Principal Software Engineer (T04) to join our Ruby team in Manhattan Beach, CA. In this role you will be on the Space Vehicle Management team, where you will design, develop, document, refactor, test, and debug applications software for a Ground Segment, supporting the program through maturity and milestones to achieve the mission.

The successful candidate will have software development experience, with the ability to digest changes and synthesize them into working designs, generate efficient code according to specifications, and adapt to changes as necessary that are driven by bugs or specification updates or the customer. The candidate is expected to operate independently with little oversight in a dynamic environment, be highly self‑motivated, and report information to leads and the customer.

The candidate will handle diverse assignments with efficiency, find unique solutions, and work in a very collaborative and fast‑paced environment that continues to grow.

• Basic Qualifications:
  
  Principal Software Engineer (T03) – 5 years of relevant experience with Bachelor's degree; 3 years with Master’s degree; 1 year with PhD; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree. Senior Principal Software Engineer (T04) – 8 years of relevant experience with Bachelor's degree; 6 years with Master’s degree; 4 years with PhD; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
• Active Top Secret/SCI clearance at the time of application, and ability to successfully pass a polygraph.
• Experience with Java, C++, and Python (or similar scripting language) in a cloud environment.
• Experience with Agile development methodologies.
• Automated testing experience.
• Understanding of software testing principles and methodologies.

• STEM degree.
• Adjudicated CI or FS polygraph.
• Proficiency with Python, Perl, Rust, Docker/Kubernetes, Cloud, Dev Ops, CI/CD.
• Proficiency with Atlassian tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket). Readiness to use Kubernetes cluster software deployment.
• Experience with automated test tools (e.g., Cucumber, Behave, Eggplant, Selenium, Cypress).
• Experience developing software for complex near real‑time ground systems in a mission domain.

Employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonus, and long‑term incentives, depending on position.
