POSITION SUMMARY
Develops from exposure to construction basics to mastering construction basics and understands how a project comes together. Earns trust and becomes a trusted team member both internally to Mc Cown Gordon and the Trade Partner Community. Develops trade partner & vendor relationships in the industry. Understands buildings and building systems (structure, MEP, envelope, etc.). Reviews, comprehends, and analyzes proposals‑asking questions as needed to trade partners and suppliers.
PRIMARYRESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists the Lead Estimator in setting up the estimate.
- Develops understanding of company estimating platforms and systems.
- Obtains exposure to preconstruction fundamentals and basics.
- Attends and participates in project meetings and produces meeting minutes.
- If desired, cross‑trains within Mc Cown Gordon (field engineer or project engineer).
- Manages RFI, Prebid notes and questions.
- Presents information to internal Mc Cown Gordon team efficiently.
- Attends trade partner networking events.
- Develops relationships with trade partners through events, solicitation and scope review process.
- Obtains exposure to costs by collecting and reviewing trade partner and supplier quotes.
- Reviews scope of work from project team or bid documents to analyze trade partners bids/proposals for completeness.
- Collects and organizes trade partner and supplier proposals.
- Ensures bids include specified materials are available for the project.
- Follows up with trade partners prior to bidding to determine whether they are participating in the bid.
- Populates trade partner and supplier contact information to the bid tabs. Assists Lead Estimator in populating scope content for the bid tab sheets and analyzing bids.
- Learns and masters fundamentals of conducting a quantity survey.
- Learns and masters company software for quantity survey and keeps up with proper organization of associated electronic files.
- Reviews the complete set of documents for items to be quantified.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
The position requires work in an office environment.
