- Assess, plan, evaluate and modify the plan of acute and chronically ill patients.
- Determine the need for and orders laboratory tests, X-rays, and other procedures necessary to complete assessment of the patient.
- Diagnose and manage various medical conditions, ensuring appropriate care for diverse diseases, disorders, and injuries.
- Write prescriptions, order the administration of medications, dispense medication and prescribe controlled substances in accordance with scope of practice for Physician Assistants.
- Develop new techniques and establish criteria for providing improved, quality patient health care to the clients of their assigned hospital.
- Provide educational management to patients regarding disease processes and diagnostic tests; the therapeutic regimen including medication, diet, and follow-up care; methods of adapting medication and treatment to current lifestyles.
- Perform emergency care as appropriate.
Performs other duties as assigned.
