About This Role
The Office of Student Financial Assistance (OSFA) Scholarship Specialist will manage the online scholarship confirmation program, Decisions and all third-party scholarships awarded to students, including private donor scholarships, State scholarships, and National Merit scholarships. The Scholarship Specialist will be responsible for posting these awards on students' financial aid awards, and in charge of the reconciliation of the State scholarship programs. The individual will also serve as the liaison between the OSFA scholarship unit and private donors, coordinate with the Associate Director for Scholarships to facilitate scholarship notifications, provide reports to privately funded scholarships and State scholarship programs, and will serve as a point of contact for students and families.
This position will involve significant interaction and collaboration with all Financial Assistance staff, as well as all college and departmental scholarship administrators. The Scholarship Specialist must have strong communication skills, be detail-oriented, and assume a high level of responsibility and initiative. Office of Student Financial Assistance processes in excess of $35M worth of scholarships awarded by colleges and departments from Foundation-sourced accounts.
More than $6M worth checks from private donors were processed by the scholarship Specialist for the academic year which represents an approximately 20% increase over the last five years.
The staff members in the Office of Student Financial Assistance serve students and their families at every step of the journey while at Kansas State University to guide students through the scholarship and financial aid process.

What You'll Need to SucceedMinimum Qualifications:
- Requires a high school diploma (or equivalent) and three years of relevant experience. Requirements may be met through a combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business or other, analytical program of study may be substituted.
- Working familiarity with MS Office Suite and/or other administrative support systems
- Ability to work within a high-volume, fast-paced setting with strong attention to detail and excellent time-managements skills
- Evidence of successful use of independent judgment, professional etiquette, organizational and multi-tasking skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Employment experience within an administrative office at a college or university
- Working familiarity with Oracle's Campus Solution (formerly People Soft) or other student information system.
