Overview

The technologist will perform essential duties to assist the medical staff with the performance of major and/or minor operative procedures within the Operating Room, Pain Management, or Inpatient areas. This includes safely operating the fluoroscopic imaging equipment under the direction of a physician and performing portable diagnostic procedures with state-of-the-art digital equipment as part of pre-operative, operative, and/or post-operative assessment of the patient.

They will complete duties according to the requirements of each approved procedure requiring radiological support, assemble necessary supplies and positioning aids for scheduled procedures according to the physician's preference card, test and monitor equipment for proper working condition, and accurately comprehend and interpret verbal orders and direction.

They will document records and other forms accurately adhering to approved policies and procedures, confirm that all persons in the room are properly shielded before activating x-ray, and communicate information about the patient''s status to other care providers. They will apply the prescribed procedures to competently perform radiologic technologist functions, follow principles and aseptic techniques during procedures, remain available during the procedure to provide timely response to physician or patient needs, follow manufacturer''s specifications and OSHA guidelines when performing x-ray procedures, and respond to emergency situations with competence and composure.

They will perform required maintenance of instruments, supplies and equipment by adhering to cleaning, care, storage and calibration procedures, handle equipment and instruments correctly to ensure availability and safety, maintain adequate supplies for immediate availability during the procedure, and maintain a clean and organized work area. They will respond in a timely manner to meet the needs of the patient and the physician.

Responsibilities

Qualifications And Education Requirements
  • License:
    Kansas Radiologic Technologist License (required)
  • Certification: ARRT Certification or Registry Eligible (must obtain within 30 days of hire)
  • Certification:
    Current BLS Certification
  • Ability to move quickly in response to physician and patient needs
  • Ability to stand for long periods, with occasional overhead and low-reaching tasks
  • Ability to exert force up to 50 lbs. occasionally, up to 20 lbs. frequently, and up to 10 lbs. constantly
  • Ability to exert up to 30 lbs. constantly, up to 40 lbs. occasionally, and up to 100 lbs. rarely
