This incumbent operates sewage treatment, sludge processing, and disposal equipment in a wastewater treatment plant to control flow and processing of sewage. The role involves monitoring control panels, adjusting valves and gates manually or by remote control to regulate flow, observing variations in operating conditions, interpreting meter and gauge readings, and testing results to determine load requirements. The worker starts and stops pumps, engines, and generators to manage raw sewage through filtering, settling, aeration, and sludge digestion processes, maintains logs of operations and records meter and gauge readings, gives directions to plant attendants and discharge workers, and may collect sewage samples for laboratory testing using equipment such as colorimeters.

The operator may also manage power-generating equipment to provide steam and electricity for the plant. Other duties as assigned.

• Employees may be subject to immunization and testing requirements pursuant to Client and current Company requirements.
• Employees must meet the requirements of the federal credentialing process to access the facility, which includes but is not limited to obtaining facility access (PIV card, smart card, badge) and meeting ongoing training and access requirements.
• Employees may be required to participate in the Select Agent Program, which would include additional background investigations, training, and performing work in a biocontainment facility, as well as meeting ongoing program requirements to maintain eligibility and compliance.
