Position: Nurse (OB/GYN)

Nurse (OB/GYN) – Irwin ACH, Ft. Riley, KS

Direct Hire Solicitation. Recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized. Salary negotiation may be available for candidates new to Federal service. Student Loan repayment may be authorized.

Overview

Position located in the Labor, Delivery, Recovery and Postpartum unit at Irwin Army Community Hospital (IACH), Fort Riley, Geary, Kansas. Civilian team members are eligible for a full federal benefits package that includes a health‑care plan, pension, 401(k) with matching, paid training, vacation, sick leave, and other federal benefits.

Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum obstetrical patients and their infants in an inpatient setting.
  • Perform newborn physical assessments.
  • Manage pregnancy‑induced hypertension, pre‑eclampsia, eclampsia, gestational diabetes, multiple gestation, postpartum hemorrhage, uterine rupture, amniotic emboli, high/low birth‑weight infants, and infants requiring protective isolation.
  • Teach patients and families about disease processes and normal newborn and postpartum care, including pre‑ and post‑operative care and medication reactions.
  • Set up, operate, and maintain medical equipment such as fetal monitors, respiratory and oxygen therapy equipment, intravenous infusion pumps, suction devices, infant warmers, and delivery tables.
  • Serve occasionally as Charge Nurse, determining patient care assignments based on staff qualifications and skills.
  • Administer oxygen, IV fluids, lab draws, blood products, and prescribed medications.
  • Provide emergency care, including life‑sustaining measures such as delivery, CPR, hypertension therapy, choking first aid, bleeding control, and treatment of injuries.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary team members (providers, pharmacists, etc.) to manage obstetric and newborn complications and implement interventions to enhance outcomes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • US Citizenship required.
  • Graduate or higher‑level degree, bachelor’s, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program, with transcripts available.
  • Current, active, full, and unrestricted state (or comparable) nursing license and successful NCLEX examination.
  • Foreign graduates must complete the CGFNS Certification Program, providing evidence of passing the CGFNS qualifying exam and an approved English‑proficiency test.
  • Exemption available for current federal employees in the 0610 occupational series employed continuously since Sept. 27, 2017, or earlier.
