Irwin Army Community Hospital (IACH) at Fort Riley is located in the rolling Flint Hills region of Northeast Kansas. The local area offers abundant outdoor activities and close proximity to Kansas State University and Manhattan Regional Airport.

This role provides emergency department clinical nursing care to patients of any age group, performing triage and prioritizing patient care based on need, available staffing, and acuity. Responsibilities include assessing incoming patients, teaching and mentoring staff, and participating in program development.

• Provide emergency department clinical nursing care to patients of any age group.
• Perform triage while considering both physical and psychosocial elements.
• Assess incoming patients and prioritize patient care based on need, available staffing, and patient acuity.
• Provide nursing care to patients presenting for urgent or emergent care using knowledge of professional nursing theories, principles, and procedures.
• Observe, monitor and assess patients' conditions.
• Teach, onboard and mentor professional and paraprofessional nursing staff.
• Interview and take medical histories to acquire medically necessary information to assess physical and mental status of patient.
• Teach patients and significant others how to manage their illness or injury.
• Conduct and participate in the development, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of facility, department, or unit‑based programs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Requirements for Nurse:

• Degree: A graduate or higher‑level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program. (Include a copy of transcripts.)
• Licensure: A current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a state, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a U.S. territory; and you must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination.
• Foreign Degree: For foreign nursing school graduates, completion of the CGFNS certification program and a copy of the CGFNS Certificate are required.
• Exemption: Current federal employees occupying a 0610 occupation series who have continuously worked in this series since September 27 2017 or before are exempt. Provide appropriate documentation to HR to validate status.

  A diploma, associate degree, or bachelor's degree in nursing from a professional program and at least one full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to GS‑9 level or above) providing nursing care to ambulatory patients, administering medications, and providing education to patients or nursing staff.
• OR a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree from a professional nursing educational program or related medical science field.
