Job Description

Member of the site leadership team, the role of the HSE lead is to:

  • Defines and lead site HSE strategy according to the EAME FC HSE Roadmap.
  • Provides leadership and expertise in all aspects of Health, Safety, Environment to ensure compliance to local and Syngenta HSE requirements.
  • Implements, maintains, audits, measures and improves efficiency of the HSE management system to drive HSE performance for all functions based on the site and its satellite stations and ensure License to operate.
  • Promote a culture of HSE excellence.
  • Act as a member of EAME Field Crops HSE team and share proactively learnings and good practices within the HSE network.

HSE lead has got full authority to stop unsafe activities/tasks.

In compliance with EAME strategic objectives and global HSE policy, the HSE lead is responsible to:

  • Lead the site safety committee.
  • Define and lead HSE strategy and road map.
  • Develop, implement, audit and improve HSE processes to ensure that all operations comply with regulatory and corporate requirements.
  • Ensure HSE management for contractors on site.
  • Pilot regulatory watch, track and measure compliance.li>
  • Develop leaders ownership.
  • Participate to the 5 years plan of HSE CAPEX strategy.
  • Define and lead training, development and certification plans for site employees, including temporary and seasonal employees.
  • Responsible of HSE documentation, provide HSE guidance considering the local regulation and Syngenta requirements.
  • Responsible for incident investigations and RCA.
  • Develop and manage HSE awareness campaigns.
  • Ensure that all critical activities are risk assessed and control measures are applied before execution.
  • Lead site management reviews.
  • Monitor HSE performance, analyze HSE data and define priorities for improvements.
  • Define and lead audit and inspections processes.
  • Responsible of the site ECMS and associated drills.
  • Enablon:
    Local triage role.
  • Lead site HSE communication.
  • Coordinate site environmental and sustainability initiatives.
  • Keep High level expertise and strong connection to the shopfloor through regular safety walks and internal inspection.

Attend daily site LT Tier meetings.

Critical success factors & key challenges
  • Support and advice all leaders to help them to carry out their accountabilities for HSE.
  • Define site HSE processes with clear roles and responsibilities.
  • Work with Syngenta employees and with stakeholders to develop and improve systems and activities to ensure compliance with HSE legislation and corporate policies.
Qualifications
  • Diploma in Safety Management and/or NEBOSH/IOSH diploma or equivalent.
  • More than 3 years in HSE lead role in industry or agricultural operations.
  • Knowledge in local & international HSE laws and regulations.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a multinational work environment.
  • Excellent leadership and control skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in both oral and written English.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and several topics simultaneously and prioritise time/resource accordingly.
