Carex is partnering with a banking industry partner to find a dynamic Chief Retail Officer (CRO) to lead and evolve the retail banking function. Candidates must be based out of, or willing to relocate to WI. This executive-level role will guide strategy, drive innovation in customer experience, and lead a team of nearly 40 retail bankers and approximately 250 Branch Operations professionals.
The CRO will champion a relationship-based banking model, fostering growth and operational excellence across mortgage, consumer lending, and branch operations.
- Lead the development and execution of retail banking strategies aligned with organizational goals, emphasizing sustainable growth and profitability.
- Oversee the full branch network and Branch Operations team, ensuring operational efficiency, compliance, and superior service delivery.
- Foster a performance-driven culture by coaching and developing team leaders and front-line employees.
- Drive customer engagement by embedding a relationship-first, solution-based service model focused on primary checking accounts.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and internal policies across all retail and branch operations.
- Leverage technology and innovation to elevate customer experience and improve operational performance.
- Serve as Chair of the Pricing Committee and Retail Banking Council, and contribute to key executive committees.
- Direct the mortgage and consumer lending functions, including portfolio oversight, service excellence, and regulatory alignment.
- Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to support cohesive and seamless customer journeys.
- Analyze branch performance data and implement initiatives to improve Net Promoter Scores, operational metrics, and responsiveness.
- 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in retail banking, including direct oversight of mortgage and consumer lending.
- Demonstrated success leading high-performing teams and delivering impactful customer experiences.
- Deep understanding of relationship-based community banking with a focus on long-term value over transaction volume.
- Strong knowledge of banking regulations, risk management practices, and lending compliance.
- Experience contributing to senior leadership and executive-level committees.
- Proven ability to lead innovation, manage change, and drive cross-functional collaboration.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
