** Job Description
** The Department of Health Science at Minnesota State University, Mankato invites applications for a Tenure-Track (Probationary) position in Applied Health Science in the Department of Health Science. The successful candidate will have a Doctorate or terminal degree in Health Education, Health Promotion, Health Behavior, or a closely related field. (Conferred on an official transcript by December 31, 2026). Must also have a current Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) or Master Certified Health Education Specialist (MCHES) credential or CHES/MCHES eligible at the time of appointment.
A copy of current Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) or Master Certified Health Education Specialist (MCHES) card or evidence of eligibility through NCHEC will be required if selected for the interview.
The successful candidate will teach undergraduate Applied Health Science and graduate Master of Public Health (MPH) courses, as well as large enrollment general education health courses. These courses may include, but are not limited to:
Personal Health, First Aid and CPR, Drug Education, Introduction to Applied Health Science, Foundations of Public Health, Health Communication and Advocacy, Professional Preparation in Health Careers, Environmental Health, Global Health, Biostatistics, Behavior Change Foundations and Strategies, and courses pertaining to health education program planning, implementation, and evaluation. The position requires actively engaging in scholarship and continued professional development. All university faculty members are expected to participate in service to the discipline, department, university, and community.
In addition, faculty members are responsible for advising and mentoring students.
* A typical faculty workload responsibility may include up to twenty four (24) credits of instruction per academic year.
* The successful candidate may need to teach in other areas as assigned and qualified.
* The successful candidate may be expected to develop and deliver face-to-face, hybrid, and on-line instruction at the Mankato campus, online, and/or at the university’s additional locations, as assigned.
* The successful candidate will collaborate with colleagues in curriculum design, instruction and evaluation, conduct research productively and mentor students in research, help create innovative strategies for student recruitment, retention, and completion, and may be expected to develop external grant funding opportunities.
* All faculty members are expected to engage in scholarly or creative activity or research, in continuing preparation and study, in contributing to student growth and development, and in providing service to the university and community (See Article 22 and Appendix G of the ).
* This position will advise undergraduate majors.
* This position will supervise/advise graduate students.

* Doctoral coursework must reflect the Eight Areas of Responsibility of a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) ().
* Current Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) or Master Certified Health Education Specialist (MCHES) credential or CHES/MCHES eligible at the time of appointment. A copy of current Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) or Master Certified Health Education Specialist (MCHES) card or evidence of eligibility through NCHEC will be required if selected for interview.
