Under the supervision of the Director of Environmental Health, Safety, and Security, the Environmental Health and Safety Specialist will maintain compliance with all OSHA and EPA programs, including but not limited to Powered Industrial Trucks, Lockout/Tagout, PPE, HAZCOM, Respiratory, Hearing Conservation, Confined Space, Emergency Action Plan, Bloodborne Pathogen, Hazardous Waste, SARA, CWA, CAA, SPCC, RMP, and PSM. Keep knowledge current on all OSHA, EPA, DOT, NIOSH, NFPA, and other regulatory issues relative to Wis‑Pak/WP Beverages facility and grounds.
Manage the company’s EHS programs, including but not limited to worker’s compensation investigations, property damage incidents, compiling statistics to identify trends, and recommending solutions to reduce injuries and hazards. Actively participate as Chairperson of the Safety Committee, assist in the development and conduct of all EHS training for employees, write and implement EHS programs to align with corporate standards, and attend outside training sessions to keep current on all safety and environmental laws and regulations, best practices, and trends.
We’re Looking For
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Bachelor’s degree in a safety field preferred and/or equivalent experience, education, and training that provides the preferred knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of this position
- CPR/AED/First Aid Certified, Instructor Certification preferred
- Five (5) years of experience in safety REQUIRED
- Working knowledge and effective ability to train on safety codes, OSHA regulations, EPA, health regulations, hazardous material, and emergency preparedness
- Knowledgeable in the applications of government regulations
- Must be able to coordinate and respond to local, state, and federal regulatory agencies
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Must have very strong organizational and communication skills
- A high degree of confidentiality, efficiency, and professionalism
- Ability to focus on multiple projects while meeting deadlines
- Ability to work off shifts as needed
