Responsibilities
  • Conceptual, preliminary, and final detailed design of new, upgraded, and expanded substations, including material procurement, construction, and commissioning/startup support through energization.
  • Development and delivery of physical, electrical, civil, and communication design studies, calculations, drawings, exhibits, and specifications.
  • Assist the Project Manager in planning and executing best‑in‑class projects, including client and stakeholder coordination, training and mentoring of design staff, project quality assurance, and oversight of design engineers, designers, drafters, and support staff.
  • Coordinate completion of specialized tasks with ECI's subject‑matter expert discipline groups such as Distribution Studies, Transmission Studies, Grounding Studies, Protection (relay coordination and settings), Civil Engineering, Communication (SCADA Integration), Transmission & Distribution Engineering, Environmental Planning, Surveying, Lands/Right‑of‑Way, and Project Management/Controls.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
  • 6+ years of project and design engineering experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organization and planning skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Commitment to quality and accuracy.
  • Willingness to meet fast‑paced project schedules.
  • Advanced knowledge of power engineering principals, applicable codes, standards, and design tools.
  • Basic project management execution skills.
  • Ability to oversee and direct design personnel on a project team.
  • A PE license is preferred.
  • Utility or merchant power industry experience is a plus.
  • Willingness to meet client‑mandated drug and background checking requirements.
  • Occasional travel/driving required; subject to ECI's auto insurance carrier requirements.
  • Must be able to work for ECI; applicants must not require sponsorship for employment visa status (not currently or in future).
