About the roleThe Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) reports to the Plasma Center Manager and supports plasma center operations. The role includes determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory test results, and notifying donors of unsuitable test results. The Specialist works under the guidance of the Center Manager and Center Physician and must be familiar with plasma collection regulations and environmental, health, and safety (EHS) procedures.
Howyou will contribute
- Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, education on AIDS and self‑exclusion, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing serological protein electrophoresis (SPE).
- Evaluate donor reactions, follow standard operating procedures for medical emergencies, and coordinate donor transport to emergency care.
- Refer findings to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs and provide guidance on donor safety and eligibility.
- Support hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees.
- Manage employee incidents and determine further evaluation by occupational health/ER, following EHS guidance.
- Act as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations related to pandemic threats within the local community.
- High school diploma or equivalent, including graduate level from a recognized nursing program with state requirements.
- Licensed or certified in the state of assignment: LPN or LVN.
- Current CPR and AED certification.
- Fulfillment of state IV therapy requirements.
- Completion of FDA‑approved Bio Life Medical Support Specialist training.
- Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Hourly Wage Range: $25.00 – $34.38.
Actual hourly wage is determined by qualifications, experience, and location.
