As a Technician, you will provide exceptional customer service by working on material handling equipment at customer locations or within our branch shop. The role requires mechanical repairs to ensure equipment runs at full performance. Recent graduates from technical schools with automotive or diesel repair education are strongly encouraged to apply.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Repair, diagnose, inspect, and maintain all material handling equipment for customer work orders assigned to you.
- Accept repair orders as assigned by Service Writer.
- Communicate with customers on diagnosis, suggested repairs, and obtain approvals.
- Read work orders, observe and listen to equipment in operation to determine/misdiagnose malfunctions.
- Offer solutions to meet customer specifications.
- Provide estimates when appropriate.
- Repair, service, recondition, or assemble equipment as approved by the customer/Service Manager.
- Obtain necessary parts collaborating with Parts department staff.
- Make mechanical repairs after a complete inspection and analysis of breakdown.
- Record complete repair description on work order, including correct model, serial number, and hour meter reading.
- Obtain signature from customer and communicate repair status.
- Examine protective guards, loose bolts, safety devices on equipment and make adjustments.
- Lubricate moving parts and drive repaired equipment to verify conformance to specifications.
- Maintain professional image, cleanliness of van and assigned work area at customer site.
- Operate shop equipment and tools.
- Notify Service Manager or Supervisor of safety issues or accidents immediately.
- Perform quality work quickly and professionally.
- Promote marketing efforts to drive parts, service, equipment, and rental sales.
- Complete service forms and submit directly to Service department daily via work tablet.
- Apply company core value – Safety Always – at all times and in all places.
- Willingness to accept new duties and responsibilities as assigned by direct manager.
Skills And Abilities
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record; CDL may be required.
- Experience in forklift repair desired; intermediate maintenance experience required.
- Ability to read and interpret safety manuals, operating & maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Effective verbal communication with customers or employees.
- Ability to work under little or no supervision.
- Must be able to provide own tools immediately; annual tool incentive is given.
- High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED).
- 3+ years of mechanic experience and/or education related to the position.
- Basic knowledge of computer and internet software.

- Occasional activities: climbing, balancing, fingering.
- Visual acuity: required for inspection of small defects, small parts, and machine operation.
- Conditions:
indoor/outdoor work, extreme cold (1 hour), extreme heat (>100°F for >1 hour), noise requiring raised voice, hazards (moving parts, vehicles, electrical current, chemicals), atmospheric conditions (fumes, dust, mists, gases), narrow aisles, oils.
