Radiation Therapist or Senior Radiation Therapist - Per Diem

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Chief Radiation Therapist and Lead Radiation Therapist, the Staff Radiation Therapist is responsible for delivering radiation therapy treatment, maintaining equipment quality assurance, managing department supplies, and fulfilling administrative QA duties.

• Patient Care and Education
  • Daily patient care, including involving patients and families in decisions.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and modesty.
  • Explain treatment procedures.
  • Arrange daily radiation treatment schedules.
  • Monitor patient responses and refer for management if needed.
• Radiation Therapy Administration
  • Accurately administer treatment and document all delivery information in the EMR.
  • Monitor and report treatment variances.
• EMR Utilization and QA
  • Safe, accurate use of all EMR functions, including new start and weekly chart checks.
  • Understand scheduling, image review, and billing procedures.
• Patient Setup and Alignment
  • Position, immobilize, and align patients per treatment plans.
  • Evaluate and address setup issues.
• Equipment and Policy Knowledge
  • Understand all equipment functions and protocols; apply knowledge appropriately.
  • Assist in developing new techniques or resolving clinical problems.
• Time Out and QA Procedures
  • Participate in Time Out verification for each treatment.
  • Utilize QA program to ensure safe treatment delivery.
• Patient Mobility and Functional Assessment
  • Assess functional mobility and use mechanical assistive devices.
• Professional Interactions
  • Model professional behavior, effective problem solving, and conflict resolution.
• Team and Development
  • Attend staff meetings, continuing education, and student evaluations.
• Shift Flexibility and Coverage
  • Work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays, and adapt to roster changes.
• Travel and Rotate
  • Travel to satellite clinics and rotate to specialty areas as directed.
