Schedule Saturday, Sunday, Monday — 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.A day in this role

You arrive, review the work orders, gather materials, and set up your first machines. By mid-morning, you’ve dialed in tool offsets, verified the first-article part with gauges, and are confidently running multiple CNCs. Throughout the day you rotate between equipment—turning, milling, grinding, drilling, tapping, EDM, and honing—while documenting results and keeping production on target. You stay alert to tool wear, swap tooling when needed, and keep everything clean, safe, and organized.

Before you wrap, you record labor transactions, scan barcodes, and note process improvements to help the team get better tomorrow.

What you'll make happen

Set up and operate CNC and manual machines: turning, milling, grinding, drilling, tapping, EDM, and honing

Run multiple machines at once to meet schedule and quality goals

Use inspection tools to confirm product quality and blueprint conformance

Read prints, establish tool offsets, and replace worn tooling

Prepare materials and review work orders prior to machining

Complete all required records; follow company procedures and FDA/QSR requirements

Perform labor transactions and barcode scanning in our systems

Contribute to team-based continuous improvement activities

Maintain equipment, practice safe work habits, and keep work areas orderly

Perform other related duties as assigned

What you bring

High School Diploma or equivalent1–2 years of CNC experience

Completed certification(s) across multiple manufacturing areas

Able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs Proficiency in equipment troubleshooting and manual machining

Compensation

The anticipated base compensation range for this position is $18.75–$28.12 USD hourly. Actual base pay depends on job-related skills, experience, and location. It is uncommon to start at the top of the range at Smith+Nephew; pay decisions consider the specific role and candidate.
