GeneralJob Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic and therapeutic neurosurgical procedures to the brain, spine and peripheral nerve surgeries, among others.
- Evaluate patients through physical examinations, imaging studies and diagnostic tests to determine the need for surgical intervention.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Provide preoperative and postoperative care.
- Monitor and interpret patient conditions during and after surgery, adjusting treatment plans as needed.
- Maintain accurate and thorough medical records.
- Extensive knowledge of neurosurgical principles, techniques and technologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent manual dexterity and precision.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and make critical decisions under pressure.
- Flexibility to adapt to new work environments and different medical teams.
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.
- Residency training program in neurosurgery accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).
- Board certification in neurosurgery by the American Board of Neurological Surgery (ABNS) or an equivalent certifying body.
- Active and unrestricted medical license in Ohio.
- While specific requirements may vary, most locum neurosurgeon positions prefer candidates with at least one year of experience providing care in a clinical setting.
