Senior Minister Job Description

Position Overview:

The Senior Minister provides spiritual, pastoral, and administrative leadership to the Ontario Christian Church. This individual will preach, teach, and shepherd the congregation while guiding the church’s mission and vision in alignment with Biblical principles. In partnership with the Elders, Staff, Ministry Teams and Congregation, he will provide leadership, shepherding and vision to the body.

• Meets biblical qualifications for leaders outlined in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1.
• Graduate of restoration college/university or relevant experience in ministry.
• Ordained Minister within the Christian Church/Church of Christ Brotherhood.
• Called to preach truth as outlined in 2 Timothy 4:1‑5.

• Preach and teach the Word of God with clarity, conviction, and compassion
  • Delivers Bible‑based sermons to equip and edify the church.
  • Ensures planning for Sunday morning worship is orderly and effective.
• Leadership, Development and Discipleship
  • Works alongside Elders and other ministry leaders to effectively develop and implement a strategic plan for OCC.
  • Has a relational connection to the congregation and provides ongoing pastoral support.
  • Works, under the guidance of the holy spirit, to inspire, equip and motivate the congregation to share the gospel where they live, work and play.
• Professional Development/Personal Growth
  • Devotes time to spiritual, mental, physical development and well‑being through personal disciplines, including ongoing education as appropriate.
  • Attends and works with small groups.
• Administration
  • Provides oversight to ministry leads and other potential associate ministers.
  • Will keep regular office hours, whenever possible.
  • Will assist in hiring of additional staff members.

Job responsibilities may vary as the needs of the congregation change. The following areas will be reviewed prior to hire for this position:
Specific Office Hours, expectations on home visits, hospital visits, Off‑days, Leadership Seminars, training, community engagement activities, sabbatical preparation/implementation.

Salary Range (Based on experience): 62,000.00‑72,000.00
