The Product Manager is responsible for managing the complete product life cycle, from pre-launch through end-of-life activities. This role works cross-functionally with engineering, sales, marketing, purchasing, and operations to drive product improvements and align offerings with the company’s growth strategy. The Product Manager reviews product performance and recommends enhancements to improve profitability, competitiveness, and customer satisfaction. This role also stays current with market trends to identify new product opportunities, analyzes customer feedback, and evaluates product performance in terms of profitability, volume, and overall portfolio health.
There is no relocation package for this position - person must live in the area. This position does not work remote or hybrid at this time.
Essential Functions and Basic Duties- Responsible for managing the product line life cycle from pre-launch through end of life.
- Leads product ideation, develops business cases, and defines product requirements to guide new product development efforts.
- Maintains profitable and competitive pricing for product lines through competitive analysis, profitability analysis, and coordination with engineering and other internal stakeholders.
- Develops all pre-launch product promotional and technical collateral in coordination with engineering, marketing, advertising, and sales.
- Coordinates with engineering on all product sustainment activities.
- Performs product rationalization analysis and makes recommendations for consolidation to support sales and operations objectives.
- Executes product rationalization initiatives as approved.
- Develops and executes a framework, in coordination with the Group Product Manager, to ensure competitive discounts meet company profitability objectives.
- Achieves overall profitability goals for assigned product lines.
- Coordinates with advertising, sales, and marketing to ensure all product-related marketing and technical collateral remain current and accurate.
- Liaises with sales, engineering, and channel partners to stay informed on market and technical trends.
- Analyzes and provides product and margin forecasts as required.
- Analyzes and recommends appropriate inventory levels to support sales and operational objectives.
- Provides training for customers, distributors, sales, and internal stakeholders as needed.
- Leads market share and competitive analysis to identify growth opportunities and inform product strategy.
- Performs other tasks, assignments, and goals as directed
- Four (4) year degree in related field. B.S. Engineering Preferred. MBA preferred.
- Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in a technical related field of an engineered capital product.
- Previous product management experience in a fast paced environment.
- Experience with industrial project management.
- Strong understanding of pump hydraulics, design principles, and manufacturing processes.
- In-depth knowledge of market analysis, product positioning, and financial performance management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with ERP and MRP systems.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Strong leadership and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and build positive relationships across departments.
- Business acumen with the ability to assess financial impact of pricing, cost, and product changes.
- Self-motivated and adaptable, with a focus on continuous learning and improvement.
- Mobility: Primarily sedentary position; requires regular sitting, with occasional walking, standing, bending, or reaching.
- Lifting/Handling: Occasionally required to lift or move materials up to 20 pounds.
- Dexterity: Frequent use of hands for computer work, document handling, and communication.
- Vision Requirements: Must be able to read technical documents, spreadsheets, and computer screens; requires close vision and color recognition.
- Hearing/Speaking: Must communicate clearly with employees, management, customers, and vendors in person and via phone or video.
- Environment: Typical office environment with regular exposure to a manufacturing setting.
- Travel: Requires regular travel by car or plane to distributor locations, customer sites, and company facilities as needed.
