North Central Fabrication – Shop Laborer / Yard Worker

Fabrication shop laborers perform a variety of daily tasks, assisting fabricators or painters with shipping, receiving, and other duties assigned by the direct supervisor.

• Operate, maintain, and care for construction equipment and machines
• Assist fabricators and other skilled laborers when necessary
• Prepare and prime paint materials as needed
• Assist with shipping of finished goods and receiving of raw materials
• Prepare materials for fabrication and painting
• Assemble and disassemble temporary fixtures and jigs
• Learn from on‑job training
• Perform shop and yard clean‑up
• Finish products by cleaning, polishing, filing, wire wheeling, scotch bright, or applying protective or decorative coatings
• Perform routine inspections on assigned equipment and report defects or needed repairs to the supervisor
• Adhere to the company’s safety policies to create a safe work environment
• Other duties as assigned

• High School diploma or GED required
• Sufficient education or an equivalent combination of experience, education and training that provides the desired knowledge, skills and characteristics to perform the duties of the role
• Ability to perform physical labor and other strenuous physical tasks for extended periods of time
• Must obtain the company‑provided necessary training and certification prior to operating any equipment
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Ability to work independently with little direction when applicable
• Ability to perform on a regular basis in conditions consisting of wet, hot, humid, and/or freezing temperatures, also contending with dirt and dust
• Ability to meet an attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
• Good work ethic and the ability to understand and carry out written and verbal instructions, specifically tasks given by supervisor
• Ability to use equipment and tools in a safe and efficient manner
• Excellent communication skills
