Summary:

The Bricklayer will construct, erect, install, and repair structures using brick, block, stone, and other masonry materials.

Job Responsibilities:

* Builds leads plum and levels at the proper height for coursing of units being used

* Reads drawings and provides layout of walls, openings, embedded items, etc.

* Establishes proper bond pattern for units being installed

* Lays out and installs masonry grout and rebar per job requirements

* Lays out and installs steel bearing plates

* Calculates angles for rakes and cuts/installs masonry units to match

* Installs masonry units to the line in a productive manner

* Grinds out, chisels, or otherwise removes weathered, damaged or defective mortar joints and installs new mortar (tuck pointing)

* Power washes finish masonry units clean by use of pressure washer and masonry cleaning detergent/acid

* Rubs, scrapes, and patches finished masonry walls

* Adheres to the company's safety policies to create a safe work environment

* Other duties as assigned

Desired Qualifications/

Skills:

* High School Diploma or GED required

* Sufficient education or an equivalent combination of experience, education and training that provides the desired knowledge, skills and characteristics to perform mason duties

* 10 Hour OSHA Certification or willingness to obtain within ninety (90) days of employment

* Good eyesight with or without correction

* Ability to lift heavy objects in a repetitive manner

* Ability to work at heights without fear including work on scaffolding and ladders

* Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency

* Ability to use equipment and tools safely

* Must have a good work ethic, and the ability to understand and carry out written or verbal instructions

* Ability to perform on a regular basis in outside weather conditions consisting of wet, hot, humid and/or freezing temperatures, also contending with dirt and dust

* Ability to read building blueprints

* Must be willing and able to travel to jobsites which may at times require overnight stays away from home

* Excellent communication skills
