- Identify strategic growth opportunities (short, near & long-term) with assigned retail customers and implement strategic plans to meet sales goals (monitor effectiveness).
- Provide updates to direct manager to allow for cascading of relevant sales information to cross‑functional teams.
- Gain impactful commitment from assigned retail customer for new products to deliver desired results.
- Develop and implement retail sales plan using data analysis provided from internal teams and deliver a sales activity report on a regular cadence to direct manager.
- Manage retail sales revenues and profit targets, as well as create metrics to determine progress of assigned retail customers.
- Maintain key relationships with key customer representatives and ensure that Klein officer(s) have relationships with senior officers of major accounts.
- Perform other duties as required within the nature and level of work.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing or Communications or a closely related field and a minimum of 7‑10 years of related work experience in sales or marketing. MBA or other related advanced degree, in addition to extensive business experience in the outdoor, hardware or consumer goods industry, is strongly preferred. A significant part of that work experience is expected to be in establishing new relationships with key outdoor retailers and distributors, driving sales growth and executing effective retail strategies.
Over time, the team may expand as the market potential grows. Must have previously worked with big box retailers or mass market retailers and hardware wholesale distributors targeting the outdoor/fishing industries. Experience in selling and marketing products directly to end‑consumers through online marketplaces such as Amazon is preferred. Must possess experience in evaluating customer, markets, trends, sales, competitor activity and consumer feedback to assist in developing commercial strategies and tactics to deliver success.
Experience with planning, executing & marketing new products and programs with customers is expected. Experience with implementing marketing activities such as public relations, advertising, promotions, POP, packaging, pricing strategy, brand positioning, and competitive analysis is expected. Must demonstrate strong financial understanding, modeling, and forecasting skills. Ability to lead and direct cross‑functional teams, internally and externally. Successful leadership experience with a proven track record of recruiting, developing team members, and retaining talent within organizations is expected.
Ability to effectively communicate and present information to direct reports, other team members, peers, senior management, leadership stakeholders, customers is required. Must be proficient in project management, have demonstrated strong planning, organizing, administrative, and change management capabilities, and have strong communications skills, both verbal and written. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word) is expected.
Occasionally required to stand, walk or sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
