Data Center Cluster Operations Leader, Mansfield, TX, AMER MLZs
AWS is looking for a Senior Manager to join our expanding Infrastructure Operations team. The role will lead a large organization, managing department heads who own data center facility infrastructure, including the operational availability of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. You will set strategic direction while also rolling up your sleeves for tactical leadership, ensuring high standards for safety, security, and availability across Amazon’s global data center platform.
Key responsibilities:
- Hire, manage, and develop the operations management team, including facilities managers, chief engineering managers and engineering operations technicians.
- Attain organizational performance goals related to safety, security, availability, scaling, and efficiency.
- Plan and execute the Infrastructure Operations component of new AWS data center build-outs, colocation expansions, and infrastructure upgrades.
- Operate and maintain mechanical, electrical, and controls systems, including preventive and corrective maintenance and change management.
- Vendor‑manage colocation data center service providers to meet or exceed contracted SLA performance.
- Oversight of a preventative maintenance system, schedule adherence, and performance evaluation of infrastructure supporting data center operations.
- Balance in sourcing and outsourcing of maintenance tasks to maximize frugality and skill‑set match.
- Respond to, manage, and resolve safety, security, and availability incidents.
- Continuously improve operational processes, procedures, methods, and tools.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience delivering design solutions for large‑scope, complex projects.
- Experience managing large teams across multiple locations and languages.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including senior leadership interactions.
- At least 5 years of analytical, quantitative, and presentation experience.
- 10+ years of relevant work in a data center or other critical environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with continuous improvement methods such as Kaizen, Lean, DMAIC, etc.
- Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and controls systems for critical infrastructure.
- Experience in one or more IT infrastructure domains (storage, compute, networking, security, cloud infrastructure, Dev Ops, etc.).

Compensation: Base salary ranging from $153,200 to $304,800 per year, with equity, sign‑on payments, and other benefits potentially included in the total compensation package.
