Job Description:The Kitchen Manager position is responsible for managing kitchen staff as well as providing kitchen staff guidance to ensure delivery of quality food on time to customers. This position is responsible for food preparation and cooking as well as maintaining a fully stocked kitchen inventory while adhering to health and safety food handling guidelines.
Essential Job Functions:- Manage kitchen staff and coordinate food orders
- Supervise food prep and cooking
- Check food plating and temperature
- Establish portion sizes
- Schedule kitchen staff shifts
- Price menu items in collaboration with the Restaurant Manager
- Order food supplies and kitchen equipment, as needed
- Train kitchen staff in prep work and food plating techniques
- Store food products in compliance with safety practices (e.g., in refrigerators)
- Keep weekly and monthly cost reports
- Maintain sanitation and safety standards in the kitchen area
- Other duties as assigned
- Assist in recruiting, hiring, and training kitchen staff
- Daily supervision of kitchen staff including communicating company policies, standards, and procedures
- Assists in kitchen staff annual reviews in conjunction with the Assistant General Manager and General Manager
- Partners with the Assistant General Manager and General Manager to request and review staff disciplinary action as needed
- Serves as a resource for kitchen staff by answering questions, conducting training, preparing educational materials, and mentoring
- Monitors kitchen staff assignments, schedules, and completion of job function and ensures coverage
- High School Diploma preferred or Equivalent
- 1-2 years of proven experience as a Kitchen Manager preferred
- Hands-on experience with planning menus and ordering ingredients
- Knowledge of a wide range of recipes
- Familiarity with kitchen sanitation and safety regulations
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends
- Ability to manage a team in a fast-paced work environment
- Previous managerial experience a plus
