Journeyman Electrician

Summary/Objective:

The Journeyman Electrician is responsible for performing skilled electrical installation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance work in accordance with applicable electrical codes, project specifications, and company safety requirements. This position requires extensive hands-on electrical experience, strong diagnostic abilities, and the ability to work effectively with other team members while providing guidance to less-experienced personnel.

Essential Functions:

Install, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair electrical systems, equipment, wiring, and components using appropriate testing and diagnostic equipment, including multimeters, megohmmeters, circuit testers, and similar tools.

Perform conduit bending, cable and wire pulling, wire splicing, terminations, and installation of breaker panels, switch gear, transformers, electrical apparatus, and related equipment.

Read and interpret electrical schematics, construction drawings, architectural plans, specifications, and technical diagrams to complete work accurately.

Ensure electrical work complies with the National Electrical Code (NEC), applicable municipal codes, project requirements, and company standards.

Troubleshoot electrical faults and power distribution systems and perform necessary repairs or corrective work.

Work with commercial and industrial electrical systems, including power distribution, motor controls, PLC/VFD-related systems, electrical equipment, and lighting systems.

Coordinate with supervisors, other trades, and team members to complete work safely, efficiently, and according to project schedules.

Provide technical guidance and assistance to apprentices and less-experienced team members while maintaining a positive and professional working environment.

Travel to out-of-town project locations as required by project assignments and business needs.

Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and applicable OSHA requirements and maintain a clean and organized work area.

Minimum seven (7) years of progressively responsible electrical experience.

Current Journeyman Electrician License required.

Thorough working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable electrical and municipal codes.

Demonstrated experience with electrical troubleshooting, diagnostics, installations, repairs, and testing equipment.

Proficiency in conduit bending, wire and cable installation, terminations, panels, switch gear, transformers, and electrical distribution systems.

Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, specifications, and technical documentation.

Experience with commercial and/or industrial electrical systems, motor controls, PLC/VFD systems, and electrical apparatus.

Ability to safely use electrical testing equipment, power tools, and hand tools associated with the trade.

Strong communication and teamwork skills with a positive attitude and willingness to both learn from and teach others.

Ability to perform the physical requirements associated with electrical construction work and work in varying jobsite and environmental conditions.
