Job DescriptionBuilding Inspector (RBI) – Region 1 (Offices in Nottingham, Sheffield & Scotland)
We are looking for a Building Inspector to join our Region 1 Building Control team. The role involves working on iconic projects such as the Cheese Grater, The Walkie Talkie, and the Gherkin, providing expertise in Building Regulations and related legislation.
Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive site inspections and regulatory assessments, reviewing structural, architectural, and mechanical designs, building materials, construction specifications, and fire strategies against Building Regulations and allied legislation.
- Supervise inspection activities and enforce regulatory compliance, acting as a Registered Building Inspector within your competency and registered class, overseeing lower‑class RBIs and graduate trainees.
- Prepare detailed compliance documentation and provide consultancy services, producing inspection reports, compliance certificates, and regulatory approval documentation while maintaining accurate records.
- Professional qualification and regulatory registration at senior level – membership of RICS, CABE or equivalent (or equivalent experience), CPD requirements met, and registration as an RBI at an appropriate level (3G/3H).
- Excellent communication and client‑relationship skills – strong interpersonal abilities and effective client management across all interactions.
- Self‑starting problem‑solver with technical expertise – capable of working independently and within large project teams, analysing complex issues, and developing and implementing solutions.
