Mansfield Town Football Club is seeking an ambitious, creative and motivated social media executive to join our media team and play a key role in shaping the identity and digital presence of the Stags across all social platforms.

This is an exciting opportunity for a talented journalist to help define how the club communicates with its supporters.

Working across the club's digital channels, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day planning, creation, scheduling and publishing of content, ensuring everything we produce reflects the club's identity, values and tone of voice.

You will play a leading role in developing proactive, social-first content that informs and engages our fanbase, while identifying new opportunities to grow our audiences and strengthen the club's presence across an ever-changing digital landscape.

The successful candidate will be have a strong knowledge of professional football, be confident working in a fast-paced professional football environment, comfortable making quick editorial decisions and capable of producing high-quality content to tight deadlines.

Role information:
  • Contribute to and execute a comprehensive social media strategy aligned with club objectives, brand identity and supporter engagement goals.
  • Lead the planning, scheduling and publishing of content across the club's social platforms.
  • Create engaging social media content, including features, behind-the-scenes content and matchday coverage.
  • Lead the club's social media output on matchdays, including live updates and comprehensive coverage of first team fixtures.
  • Work closely with in-house creatives, videographers, designers and photographers to deliver high-quality content that meets the club's brand and creative standards.
  • Manage and contribute to the club's website, ensuring a consistently high standard of written and editorial communication.
  • Adapt content appropriately for different platforms, audiences, formats and algorithms, ensuring best practice across every channel.
  • Monitor emerging trends, technologies and content opportunities, proactively identifying new ways for the club to engage with its supporters.
  • Analyse social media performance and use audience insights and platform analytics to inform and optimise future content.
  • Support the wider media team with content planning and delivery across the club.
  • Deputise for the head of media when required, supporting the leadership and coordination of the club's media output.
About you

We are looking for someone who is passionate about football and social media who can combine strong journalistic instincts with creativity and initiative

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A relevant education qualification, such as a journalism degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an outstanding command of the English language.
  • Experience, ideally within professional football or another sporting environment.
  • Experience covering live sporting events and producing content in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Experience working with content management systems (CMS) and publishing editorial content across digital platforms.
  • Strong copywriting, editing and editorial judgement.
  • Experience creating high-quality social media content.
  • A strong understanding of social media platforms, audience behaviour, content trends and emerging digital technologies.
  • An understanding of fan engagement and the different ways supporters consume content across platforms.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities effectively.
  • The ability to remain calm, adaptable and decisive in high-pressure live publishing environments.
  • A proactive approach, with the confidence to generate ideas and take ownership of projects from concept through to delivery.
  • Experience working within a professional football club or sporting organization.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
  • A strong work ethic and willingness to work flexible and unsociable hours, including evenings, weekends and matchdays.
Working pattern

This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week.

Standard working hours are 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, based at One Call Stadium.

Flexibility is essential due to the nature of professional football. Regular first team matchday attendance will be required, including Saturday and Tuesday fixtures where applicable, alongside evenings, weekends, events and other key club activities depending on the football calendar and broadcast schedule.
