This is a great opportunity for a dynamic, professional to join a forward-thinking college to develop and teach across a range of courses and across all disciplines. The primary focus will be teaching on courses from within Hairdressing. The ideal candidate will have good knowledge of and professional experience within the vocational area. You will be able to work as a team member within the directorate of Health, Care and Wellbeing and where appropriate with cross college teams.
You will tutor teach theory and practical aspects of the apprenticeship programmes and have the ability to co‑ordinate and develop training programmes. It is essential that you have the ability to build positive relationships, displaying excellent communication, organisational skills and administrative skills demonstrating a flexible and professional attitude. You will be a highly self‑motivated, energetic and driven individual, encompassing a strong sense of autonomy.
You will possess excellent presentation and communication skills and be able to demonstrate achievement of targets. The role will require you to embed the college’s values, Respect, Integrity, Collaboration, Compassion and Ambition.
- To deliver and develop apprenticeship programme(s) of study for a group(s) of learners ensuring best practice in learning, teaching and assessment.
- To develop and monitor resources for learner use.
- To assess learners according to established guidelines, complying with the Internal Verification process.
- To keep up‑to‑date with curriculum initiatives, development of standards and general developmental and professional issues relating to the delivery of the programme in your area.
- To implement quality procedures contributing to thorough, evaluative course reviews which feed into the Self‑Assessment.
- To provide initial advice and guidance including interviewing potential learners and offering APL guidance where relevant.
- To carry out initial assessments and report on these to relevant Curriculum Managers, identifying additional needs as appropriate.
- To support learners through recording, tracking, documenting and discussing progress of individual programmes of study.
- To maintain appropriate standards of learner behaviour.
- To negotiate Individual Learning Plans with learners, which identify appropriate soft and hard targets.
- To complete documentation/administration associated with role and responsibilities.
- To contribute to continuous professional development.
- To attend directorate meetings.
