Lead Teacher of Science (SEN Specialist)
Location: Mansfield & Local Area Salary Scale: £32,916 - £45,352 (M1 - M6)
Schedule: Permanent, Term Time | 40 Hours per Week
Are you ready to swap the lab for a legacy? If you are a Science teacher who is tired of the "exam factory" mentality and wants to get back to why you started teaching—to spark curiosity and change lives—this is the leadership role you've been waiting for.
We are looking for a Science Lead who can bridge the gap between complex scientific concepts and the unique needs of learners with ASC and SEMH
. We don't just teach Science; we use it as a tool to help young people re‑engage with the world around them.
This is a high‑impact hybrid role designed for an educator who loves teaching but is ready for the "next step" in their career. You will receive dedicated weekly leadership release time to:
- Shape the Vision: Take full ownership of the Science curriculum, ensuring it is hands‑on, multi‑sensory, and accessible across our Mansfield sites.
- Empower Peers: Act as the "expert in the room," coaching and mentoring colleagues to deliver world‑class Science sessions through bespoke CPD.
- Quality & Growth: Work with senior leaders to audit teaching quality, celebrate successes, and implement creative interventions to raise student attainment.

Purpose:
Work directly with small groups and 1‑to‑1, proving that with the right approach, every student can experiment, learn, and succeed.
You don't need to be a corporate manager; you need to be a brilliant teacher with a heart for SEN and a head for curriculum design.
- The Essentials: You hold QTS and a relevant Level 6 qualification
. - The Subject Matter: You have a deep toolkit of Science resources and the ability to simplify the complex.
- The Drive: A valid driving licence and vehicle are required, as you'll be the mobile face of Science across our local learning hubs (business insurance will be required).
- The Mindset: You are a reflective practitioner who thrives on collaboration and sees the potential in every "difficult" day.
Leadership shouldn't be lonely. You'll be part of a robust network of Curriculum Leads and receive direct, personal support from our Heads of Quality of Education to ensure you have the tools to succeed.
