Overview

Senior Automation Engineer, EMA2 Reliability Maintenance Engineering at Amazon Fulfillment Center (FC) EMA2 in Mansfield. The role focuses on safety, troubleshooting, design/implementation/document control solutions for material handling systems, cross-functional liaison, on-call availability, and training RME Technicians on device troubleshooting and Preventive Maintenance. Strong project management, effective communication, self-direction, and multi-tasking in a dynamic environment are required.

• Prepare specifications and technical detail to fully define performance on equipment, material and services
• Perform PLC control level issue diagnosis
• Follow change management process and develop ad-hoc PLC ladder code changes
• Familiarization with Siemens and/or Allen Bradley PLC processes and input/output modules
• Provide detailed analysis and testing of existing and new engineering solutions and components
• Work with IT, FC Software and Operations Engineering to develop and update controls knowledge and training documents for the Facilities Engineering team
• Be responsible for incident follow-up, root cause analysis and documentation
• Undertake industrial engineering design on existing material handling modules within the European network
• Provide technical documentation such as flow diagrams, conveyor and equipment layouts, installation details, schedules and budgets
• Support commissioning of new automation elements
• Actively participate in local or EU network level control projects and initiatives
• Provide value engineering/value analysis
• Ensure adherence to all Health & Safety procedures; proactively raise potential H&S issues and develop personal safety awareness
• Use AutoCAD to review, develop and maintain electrical schematic and conveyor layout drawings
• Understand and ensure procedural adherence to industry operating standards such as QS 9000, ISO 9001
• Participate in the Control System SharePoint site development
• Document control system and equipment configuration changes and keep the documentation updated on the SharePoint site

• Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays
• Experience with PLC-controlled automation

• Master's degree, or Six Sigma Black Belt certification
• Experience with creating automated alarms, reports and KPI metrics for plant management
• Experience using relational databases (SQL)
• Experience leading controls in manufacturing or complex industrial environments
• Experience identifying, maintaining, troubleshooting, and modifying motor controls including motor starters, Variable Frequency Drives, DC drives, and standard electrical components
• Experience interpreting and modifying mechanical and electrical drawings
