Workshop Engineer Thorn Baker Industrial
• Sutton in Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, England

Location: Sutton-in-Ashfield
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Salary: £30,000 per annum
Hours: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm (1-hour lunch)
Probation: 6 months

We're looking for a reliable and technically minded Workshop Engineer with an electrical background to join a busy workshop environment. This is a practical, hands-on role involving the assembly, wiring, testing, maintenance and preparation of specialist equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assemble, wire and prepare specialist equipment.
  • Prepare, route and terminate cables.
  • Carry out continuity, RCD and system testing.
  • Fault find and carry out basic repairs where appropriate.
  • Charge, inspect and maintain batteries.
  • Complete testing, inspection and checklist documentation.
  • Inspect and maintain returned/decommissioned equipment.
  • Monitor stock and collect materials from a local site when required.
  • Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop.
  • Follow all health & safety procedures and use the correct PPE.
About You
  • Previous electrical, electrical engineering or workshop experience.
  • Practical wiring, cable preparation and termination experience.
  • Understanding of electrical testing, including continuity and RCD testing.
  • Good fault-finding, problem-solving and attention to detail.
  • Able to follow technical instructions and safe working procedures.
  • Practical, organised and able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physically capable of manual handling duties.
  • Driving licence desirable for occasional local stock collections.

Relevant electrical qualifications and experience with batteries, solar systems, equipment maintenance or refurbishment would be advantageous.

  • Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm
  • 28 days holiday
  • Overtime rarely required - paid at time and a half when applicable
  • Free on-site parking
  • Uniform provided
  • 6-month probationary period
