The Mental Health Division of Nottinghamshire Healthcare Foundation Trust comprises of three directorates;

Main duties of the job

As a staff nurse you will be responsible for being nurse in charge shifts and completing the duties of being a named nurse to you allocated patients

Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment.

You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of £16 per year applies.

Job responsibilities

The main responsibilities of the job are :

To assess, plan, implement, promote and evaluate safe, creative and effective treatment plans in collaboration with the patients diverse needs, their carers and other professionals.

Interventions will be evidence based and designed to reduce stressand anxiety, manage risk and aid recovery.

To maintain accurate, timely and relevant clinical records both written and computerised. To maintain the safe custody of healthcare records.

Responsible for the safe monitoring, management and administration of medication as required by Trust policy.

To be aware of and apply the principles of Infection Prevention and Control and to comply with policy, procedure and guidance.

To obtain and interpret physical Healthcare observations

Demonstrate and be responsible for the safe application of relevant, up-to-date legislation including the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty, safeguarding etc.

You must be a RMN or equivalent and registered with the NMC. You must be able to work flexible hours on a 24hr rota including weekends and bank holidays.

Applicants must have some experience of working within the mental health setting, be flexible, hardworking and compassionate with a desire to work in a fast pace environment.

You will have access to training and development, annual appraisals and clinical supervision.

Person Specification Qualifications
  • Maintains current registration with the NMC
  • Demonstrate continued professional development to maintain professional registration
Knowledge
  • Knowledge and understanding of current legislation and understanding of clinical risk assessments
  • Knowledge of the nursing 6 c's
  • Awareness of national and local issues impacting of nursing care
Training
  • Willingness to undertake new clinical practices, education and training that will enhance service delivery
