Mansfield area Make a Meaningful Difference Through Communication A fantastic opportunity has become available for a caring, creative and motivated Speech and Language Therapist to support children and young people with a range of communication needs across specialist education settings in the Mansfield area. You'll be part of a supportive multi disciplinary team, helping pupils develop the communication skills they need to engage with learning, build relationships and grow in independence.

This is a varied and rewarding role where your expertise will make a genuine impact every day.

The Role You will manage your own caseload and deliver both direct and indirect therapy through 1:1 sessions, small group work and classroom based support. You'll assess pupils' speech, language and social communication needs, design tailored therapy programmes and monitor progress against agreed outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

Completing initial and ongoing communication assessments Producing professional assessment and progress reports Developing and reviewing individual communication programmes Delivering 1:1, small group and classroom based interventions Creating visual resources such as Social Stories and visual timetables Producing communication aims for IEPs and EHCPs Maintaining Personal Communication Passports Supporting a Total Communication approach Modelling communication techniques (signing, symbols, language modification, intensive interaction) Supporting pupils with low tech and high tech AAC Providing advice and training to staff, families and carers Working collaboratively with education teams and external professionals Supervising therapy assistants where required Contributing to annual reviews and multi disciplinary meetings Maintaining accurate and confidential clinical records About You We're looking for someone who is passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people and who can build positive, professional relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.

You will need: A recognised Speech and Language Therapy degree HCPC registration RCSLT membership Experience supporting children or young people with learning disabilities Experience working with Autism Spectrum Conditions

Experience with in a multi disciplinary team Knowledge of therapeutic interventions for learning disabilities Understanding of behaviour support and safeguarding Awareness of how trauma and adverse childhood experiences affect communication Strong assessment and therapy planning skills Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication Good organisation, time management and IT skills Commitment to CPD and reflective practice Desirable :
Makaton/Signalong, specialist communication software, experience with complex needs, PMLD, SEMH, EHCP processes, completed NQP competencies, and at least one year of post?graduate paediatric experience.
