We have an exciting opportunity for a Payroll Coordinator to join our busy, friendly HR and Payroll team.
Reporting to the HR Operations and Payroll Manager
, you will play a key role in delivering an accurate, efficient payroll and pensions service, ensuring staff are paid correctly and on time, and that all statutory and financial requirements are met.

This is a varied and responsible role covering all aspects of payroll and pensions administration.
Duties include:
Payroll
- Processing payroll documentation including new starters, leavers, contractual changes and sickness
- Calculating final salary payments and deductions
- Ensuring compliance with payroll legislation, HMRC requirements and College policies
- Maintaining payroll and pensions records on iTrent, including year-end processes
- Processing payments such as overtime, cycle to work and childcare vouchers
- Producing monthly reports, journals and costing reports for Finance
- Supporting payroll audits and external requests
- Liaising closely with HR, Finance and other departments
Pensions
- Acting as an administrative contact for Teachers’ Pensions, LGPS and Scottish Widows
- Managing monthly pension administration and checks
- Supporting annual returns, audit certificates and auto-enrolment requirements
- Keeping up to date with changes in pensions legislation and guidance
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience in payroll and pensions administration
- Is highly accurate, organised and detail-focused
- Can work confidently with payroll systems and data
- Communicates effectively with internal and external stakeholders
- Is committed to confidentiality, compliance and continuous improvement
- A supportive and collaborative working environment
- Flexible working hours (22 hours per week)
- Full-time equivalent salary VBSS Band 5 £ 26,792
