Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate a package of support and care for adult substance users, enabling them to improve safety and resilience in relation to substance use and associated safeguarding risks.
  • Provide appropriate coordination and interventions that help reduce the impact of substance use, including engagement, assessment, whole‑family, group and one‑to‑one psychosocial interventions.
  • Work directly with families and parents, using recognised evidence‑based interventions that build resilience and facilitate positive changes to family functioning.
  • Support the effective safeguarding of families through contribution to multi‑agency plans, timely identification of risks and vulnerabilities, and appropriate assessment, safety planning and onward referrals to relevant services.
  • Collaborate closely with Social Care Teams and other family support services.
  • Promote family member involvement to improve outcomes for children.
  • Provide effective case coordination for all families in support of the children’s Child Protection or Child in Need Plan.
  • Participate in agreed supervision and development meetings.
  • Review ongoing care and support, liaising closely with the full range of specialist workers across the multi‑disciplinary team.
About You
  • Experience working with families with complex problems in one or more of the following fields: social work, youth offending, substance misuse, probation, health, family work, education, youth and community.
  • Ability to manage distressing behaviours in a calm and professional manner.
  • Knowledge of current legislation surrounding young people, families and safeguarding practice (e.g., Adfam and Think Family reports).
  • Sound working knowledge of Child Protection.
  • Sensitivity in working with complex and diverse cultural family issues.
  • Experience working with families and individuals where children have a Child Protection or Child in Need Plan in place.
  • Experience delivering training and group work.
  • Understanding of the impact of hidden harm, honour‑based violence, child sexual exploitation and FGM.
What We Offer

  • Paid "Wellness" hour each week, plus a wellness hub and Employee Assistance Programme.
  • Contributory pension scheme.
  • Several benefits including discounts for shopping, cinema, holidays, etc.
  • A friendly and supportive team.
  • Training, career development and progression opportunities.
