THE ROLE As an HGV Class 1 Driver, you will play a vital role in ensuring our customers receive their flour deliveries safely, efficiently, and professionally throughout Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. You'll operate articulated vehicles, represent Andrews Flour on the road, and help maintain the high standards our customers have trusted for generations.
Key Responsibilities Safely operate company vehicles in legal compliance relating to roads, tachograph and driver hours. Plan and follow efficient delivery routes, communicate delays promptly, and keep management informed. Conduct pre-trip inspections and basic maintenance, ensuring vehicles are roadworthy, clean, fuelled, and faults are addressed promptly. Load, secure, and verify flour deliveries, ensuring order accuracy and product safety in transit. Deliver goods professionally, ensuring excellent customer service, site safety compliance, and respect for customer property.
Check/verify paperwork for accuracy; coordinate with weighbridge, and assist with operational duties, including loading for next-day deliveries. Maintain professional standards, including wearing uniform, being presentable, and working flexibly to meet varying schedules and continuous improvement goals. Essential Criteria Minimum 2 years HGV1 driving experience, including multi-drop deliveries Current, full and clean HGV Group CE Licence Current Driver Qualification Card (CPC) Digital Tachograph Card Good working knowledge of the NI and RoI road networks Flexibility regarding daily start and finish times (can vary daily) Excellent communication skills (speaking, listening) Ability to read, write and follow instructions/procedures accurately in English Excellent customer service skills Current eligibility to work in the UK.
Desirable Criteria Experience delivering bulk flour or grain to multiple sites. 3 years HGV1 driving experience. WORKING PATTERN Monday to Friday One Saturday or Sunday shift (8 hours) every 4 weeks included in salary. Contracted 50 hours per week, which includes built-in overtime. (seeNOTE below) 1-hour break each day. Start and finish times may vary to align with operational requirements.
Drivers may finish earlier during quieter periods or work extended hours within legal limits during peak demand (with agreement of management). SALARY £40,770.81 per annum To give you clarity and certainty over your monthly earnings, this fixed annual salary includes:
Contracted overtime One scheduled Saturday or Sunday shift every four weeks
