Position Summary

This role provides direct clinical patient care. The nurse will assess, plan, and implement direct patient care on a per‑shift basis, supervise staff to whom care is delegated, and support the Chief Nursing Officer to ensure high‑quality, safe, and appropriate nursing care.

Responsibilities
  • Act as a staff nurse role model with superior performance and serve as a resource for emergency department staff and ancillary departments.
  • Demonstrate effective delegation skills, including daily staff assignments such as crash cart maintenance, discharge phone calls, and other department functions.
  • Maintain clear and open communication with the nursing supervisor regarding emergency department patients and staffing needs, including patient discharges, dietary needs, break relief, and additional help required for pending procedures or 1:1 patients.
  • Take an active role in the socialization and orientation of new staff members to the hospital and department.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with peers, the department director, nursing supervisors, and all other hospital departments such as laboratory and imaging services.
  • Evaluate and provide feedback on employee performance.
  • Exemplify superior customer service skills with all patients, families, physicians, peers, and other hospital staff, responding to all concerns and utilizing the chain of command when appropriate.
  • Provide verbal and written feedback to the department director on any employee, patient, or other concerns that affect smooth operation of the department or require intervention, including recognition of exceptional practice.
  • Round on all patients several times per shift to ensure patients and/or families are updated on care, taking proactive steps as necessary to ensure optimal care and customer service.
  • Give a report to the incoming charge nurse highlighting issues and providing information necessary to ensure a smooth transition of care.
  • Ensure all staff introduce the incoming RN to patients/families with name and date written on the information board.
Compensation

Hourly pay: $48.29 – $87.50. Up to $20,000 sign‑on bonus based on experience (not applicable to internal applicants).

Required
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • Current license, certification, or registration to practice nursing in the state of employment
  • CPR certification
Preferred
  • Academic degree in nursing (Bachelor’s or Master’s)
