Assistant Store Manager; Store

Overview

Join Game Stop as a Full Time Assistant Store Manager (Store 5197) and support the Store Manager in all facets of store operations. Use Game Stop's buy, sell, trade, and reservation business model to build a sales culture and deliver outstanding guest service experiences.

• Provide best‑in‑class guest service by greeting guests, answering questions, informing them of promotions, and recommending items.
• Ensure products are visible, well merchandised, and easy to purchase; maintain a clean, organized shopping environment.
• Process guest purchases and returns accurately via the POS system, including making correct change and providing receipts.
• Support the total shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and guest relationships.
• Assist the Store Manager with training staff on policies, procedures, and guest service expectations; provide timely feedback and recognition.
• Supervise Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the Store Manager’s absence.
• Ensure onboarding, job and compliance training is completed for all new associates before opening or closing a shift.
• Schedule staff, manage breaks and meals, and supervise staffing levels to achieve optimum guest service.
• Approve payroll, entering paid time off and verifying all time worked.
• Maintain store cleanliness, merchandised fixtures, and equipment in working order; ensure restrooms meet company standards.
• Fulfill Omni‑Channel orders, process defectives/recalls, and perform inventory counts and reconciliations.
• Protect company assets via inventory control, loss prevention practices, and daily bank deposits.
• Assist in maintaining store records and manuals; maintain compliance with all operational duties.
• Apply all store policies, including the Associate Handbook and Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct.
• Adhere to all opening and closing procedures.

• Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.
• At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.
• At least 2 years of retail sales or guest service experience preferred.
• Video game knowledge preferred.

• Outgoing and welcoming personality with strong people skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment.
• Proficiency with POS computers and basic mathematics.
• Strong customer service orientation, including the ability to build guest loyalty.
• Physical ability to lift up to 30 lbs and perform store tasks for extended periods.
• Reliability, strong judgment, and adherence to company policies.

Pay: $19.65 – $23.65 per hour
