Experienced Commercial Door Technician

Overview

Vortex Doors, America’s highest quality and most customer-centric commercial and industrial door repair company, is seeking a motivated Experienced Commercial Door Technician to join our team. We are considering applicants with at least 3+ years of door industry experience.

As an Experienced Commercial Door Technician at Vortex Doors, you will install, repair, and maintain various types of doors, docks, and related hardware, ensuring they function efficiently and safely. You will work on a variety of service calls at customer sites, focusing on safety, quality workmanship, and customer satisfaction.

• Install, troubleshoot, and repair commercial doors, docks, and related hardware using appropriate tools and equipment.
• Diagnose and repair door-related issues such as broken springs, hinges, locks, and electrical components. Welding training can be provided if requested.
• Install and configure door hardware, including locks, handles, closers, low-voltage components, and access control systems.
• Ensure all installed doors meet safety and building code regulations and standards.
• Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries, explaining repair processes, and offering solutions.
• Maintain accurate records of service visits, repairs, and installations, and provide reports as required.
• Diagnose and resolve technical issues with doors efficiently and communicate cost-effective solutions to customers.
• Perform quality checks on installations and repairs to ensure adherence to the company’s quality standards.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3+ years’ experience in the commercial door service industry.
• Knowledge of various door types, brands, and hardware.
• Ability to use hand and power tools effectively.
• Proficiency in performing mathematical calculations involving fractions and reading a tape measure accurately for precise installations.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and adherence to safety protocols.
• Proficiency with computers; strong mechanical and technical skills.
• Physical ability to move items weighing 50 lbs. or more; ability to climb ladders up to 20 feet; lift and bend for extended periods; operate power tools.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to relate to customers and work under varying conditions.
• Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and detail-oriented workmanship.
• Reliable and self-motivated.

• Full-time shifts are available between 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with possible overtime and on-call hours.
• Ongoing training provided; fast-paced, results-oriented environment.

• Drug test, background check, and motor vehicle check required.
