Job Description

Zip‑Pak in Manteno requires extruder machine operators to run plastic extrusion lines. 12‑hour shift (7 pm‑7 am), 2‑2‑3 night schedule with alternating weekends off. Clean, safe, temperature‑controlled environment. Excellent benefits include medical, dental, 401(k), life insurance & more. High School diploma or GED required; previous manufacturing experience preferred but not required.
Responsibilities- Operate and maintain extrusion lines to consistently produce product within quality specifications at or above productivity targets.
- Make necessary adjustments and judgments; observe safety, HACCP/AIB/SQF guidelines and policies.
- Utilize judgment in acceptable variance from specifications.
- Ensure proper equipment set‑up and perform quality checks, recording results.
- Communicate troubleshooting efforts with team members, supervision, maintenance.
- Assure proper quantities are run (no significant over/under runs).
- Perform line changeovers, line cleaning and some preventative maintenance.
- Properly box product, ensure product identification, utilize correct pallet configuration and secure pallets.
- Observe all safety precautions, rules, regulations and HACCP/SQF regulations.
- Keep the area around the line clean and report all safety hazards to supervisor.
- Complete all required paperwork properly and legibly.
- Assist other operators with spool handling, changeovers, line cleaning, and participate on task forces and committees as requested.
- Extrusion experience desirable.
- High School diploma or GED.
- Stable work history.
- Demonstrates willingness to accept or seek new assignments.
- Mechanical aptitude and good troubleshooting skills.
Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and walk.
CompensationHourly range for an Extruder Operator 1 (nights) $19.00–$21.00 plus a $1.00 shift premium; location may affect rate.
