Job Overview
As an Inside Sales Representative for Ag Energy, you will be responsible for managing inbound and warm outbound leads, educating prospects about our agricultural renewable energy products/services, and converting these into customers. This role is office-based (with occasional travel to farms or agricultural sites as needed). Good communication, technical learning ability, and a results-oriented mindset are essential.
Duties- Answer inbound inquiries (phone, email, web leads), follow up on warm leads, and conduct outreach to potential customers.
- Gather customer requirements related to agricultural operations and energy needs; propose appropriate solar / energy / farm efficiency solutions.
- Prepare detailed quotes and proposals; coordinate with technical, engineering, or operations teams to verify feasibility and cost.
- Maintain and update CRM with pipeline status, customer interactions, follow-ups, forecasts, and conversion metrics.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and close deals in line with company policies.
- Stay informed on relevant product specs, financing options, state and federal incentives, utility/utility rate rules, and regulatory requirements in Illinois.
- Collaborate internally with engineers, field techs, operations, and leadership to ensure customer satisfaction and accurate project delivery.
- Professional, courteous communication with farmers, agribusiness owners, utility contacts, and other stakeholders.
Required:
- 1+ years experience in inside sales, tele sales, business development, or customer-facing sales. Experience in energy / solar / ag equipment is helpful but not required.
- Comfortable making calls, doing outreach, managing a sales pipeline, handling objections and closing.
- Experience or comfort using CRM tools (Salesforce, Hub Spot, or equivalent).
- Ability to learn technical product details and translate them for non-technical customers.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable means of transportation for site visits as needed.
Preferred / for Higher pay:
- Experience selling solar, energy systems, or agricultural energy solutions.
- Familiarity with Illinois agricultural operations, farming economics, or working with farm clients.
- Knowledge of incentive programs, tax credits, utility tariffs in Illinois.
- Experience doing technical pre-sales work (e.g. sizing systems, defining scope, coordinating with engineering).
- Proven track record meeting or exceeding quotas.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, agriculture, engineering, or related field is a plus.
